Firmament Gets HDR Support for Steam Deck in New 2.0 Patch

Cyan Worlds has been on a roll recently. The Myst and Riven remakes have been incredible to play, and the team has been working hard to make it as playable as possible! Recently, they also released Firmament, which is a whole new experience that was funded on Kickstarter. And recently, it got a new update that will be wonderful for the OLED Steam Deck.

Similar to the recent update for Myst, the engine for the game has gotten a big upgrade. We have gone from Unreal Engine 4.27 to 5.3.2, which allows the game to recognize the OLED Steam Deck's HDR screen. Now, we should be able to use HDR with the game, helping it look even more beautiful than before! The upscaling/supersampling options have also been updated, which should bring better performance and visuals overall when used.

There have also been some general fixes here and there for the game, like fixing getting stuck in an upgrade machine, missing localization, and some elements of the end-game being gone. The new engine version also helped improve lighting and reflections, though they aren't utilizing Unreal Engine 5's features like Lumen or Nanite.
