I know we've all thought it at one point or another. When we're playing Tetris, and we beat our all-time record of 5 lines cleared, we're left wondering, what if I was playing a city builder right now? Well, fear not, developers Sleepy Mill Studio have stepped up to the challenge with Drop Duchy, offering players the ability to create their own kingdom using the classic Tetris dropping gameplay. It's launching this Fall on Steam. There'll be a demo out in a few weeks too!

You'll need to place your blocks just right in order to get the most out of the land's resources. Place structures near forests, rivers, or plains to utilize them, but be careful, there are mercenary camps too, you won't want to place resources near them, lest you give them the upper hand when your forces inevitably clash.

Experience the already strategic gameplay of Tetris, mixed with the deeper gameplay of a city builder, meaning it's not just shapes you have to think about, but what those shapes contain. Unlock upgrades and modifiers in the form of cards, which can give you new structures, more soldiers, and improved resource gathering. And if you fail, don't worry, you can jump right back in.

Drop Duchy is due to launch on Steam in the Fall of 2024. With a demo due out in the next few weeks. The game will have full controller support, and the system requirements are easily within the Steam Deck's reach, so this looks like it might be an ideal game to play on the handheld.
