The Steam Summer Sale started a few days ago, and there are tons of great deals across different genres, including many that shine on Steam Deck. As you've probably seen, we are putting together a list of recommendations. We already posted Part 1 and Part 2 of our general recommendations, where we went over Action, Story-Driven, RPGs, JRPGs, Horror, Fighting games, and many other genres.
There are also many games that likely went under the radar for those who play a lot on Steam Deck over the years. As a complement to our general recommendations, I've put together a list of the best hidden gems in the Steam Summer Sale to play on Steam Deck. This features 15 games in no particular order across a plethora of genres and price points. Without further ado, here is our list of the best Steam Summer Sale hidden gems to play on Steam Deck.
Birdcage - $11.19 (20% Off)

Birdcage from Polygon Bird is a blend of shoot 'em ups with Metal Gear Solid-style storytelling. It borrows heavily from the genre greats, but delivers a stylish experience unlike anything else out there. While it had some issues at launch, it is in a much better place now and is absolutely brilliant on Steam Deck. It has very light power consumption of around 9W and delivers 60fps gameplay. It also has an aesthetic that shines on the Steam Deck OLED.
Endless Monday: Dreams and Deadlines - $5.99 (40% Off)

Endless Monday: Dreams and Deadlines, the visual novel from hcnone, is equal parts relatable and thought-provoking. It will make you rethink how you approach your own work, your friends, and life in general, but it likely will also make you want to eat a burger. Endless Monday, with its Overtime update, is amazing thanks to stunning art and lovely music, and it also looks superb on the Steam Deck OLED. Just make sure to cap the screen at 60 Hz. It uses under 7W of power.
Promise Mascot Agency - $16.24 (35% Off) (SDHQ Review)

Kaizen Game Works' open world exploration RPG set in a rural Japanese town was already on my radar because I loved Paradise Killer from the same developer, but Promise Mascot Agency delivered one of the best soundtracks in years across any medium, not just games, while also being in a game I think about a lot thanks to its incredible writing and unique atmosphere. When you think of games with great vibes, Promise Mascot Agency should be at the top of your list. It plays great on Steam Deck, but I'd recommend aiming for 45fps at 90hz with a 17W power drain at worst in the areas I tested again.
Caves of Qud - $23.99 (20% Off)

Caves of Qud from Freehold Games is a game that should not be allowed to exist. It features a massive, complex, and immersive world full of tons of lore, some of the best writing in games, and multiple game modes to sink your teeth into. The world feels real, and the simulation aspects are just on another level. Caves of Qud on a portable device feels like immersing yourself in an infinite story you will never tire of. I want to stop writing this article and go back to playing Caves of Qud. Caves of Qud uses about 9W of power and has tons of accessibility options to scale the UI as you'd like on Steam Deck.
Umurangi Generation - $7.49 (50% Off)

Umurangi Generation is like Hitman: World of Assassination, but for photography in a "shitty future" that feels a bit too real at times. Umurangi Generation caught my attention because of its aesthetic and music, but I didn't realize just how much I'd love it until I spent the first hour engrossed. It also has a deep love of photography that might make you want to spend on a camera. So far, I've played Umurangi Generation on every platform, but my favorite remains the Steam Deck since it runs perfectly and also lets you use the trackpads for precision aiming if needed. If you play with a 90fps target, expect about 16W of power consumption.
Ib - $9.09 (30% Off)

Ib has you playing as a young girl named Ib visiting an art gallery with her parents. She soon realizes things aren't as expected, and things begin to change. Ib is a 2D indie exploration horror game with unique puzzles, superb art, and memorable music. I've played this multiple times across platforms, but I will always recommend it on a portable if someone has that option. It is one of the best indie horror games, and while it only uses around 10W of power, the performance is a bit inconsistent on Steam Deck (and on PC as well when it comes to scrolling) out of the box, with it running a bit better via GE Proton. Despite some scrolling issues, Ib is more than worth your time and money.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer - $29.99 (40% Off)

Tokyo Xtreme Racer is an old-school offline arcade racer with an interesting battle system, loads of customization options, and most importantly, fun gameplay. If you've ever lamented how racing games aren't as good as they used to be, Tokyo Xtreme Racer is for you. Despite being an Unreal Engine 5 game, you can get a solid 60fps on Steam Deck with some tweaks. It is power-hungry, though, so you should expect around 20W of power consumption.

FAITH:聖なる三位一体- 5.09ドル(66%オフ)

New Blood Interactive and Airdorf's pixel horror experience, FAITH, is one of the most interesting horror games out there right now. It doesn't rely on cheap scares and has a nice blend of rotoscoped scenes and pixel art 2D movement. It also has brilliant sound design. Keep in mind that the game is designed for 15fps (you will understand when you see the visuals), and it uses up about 8W of power. While the opening is a bit slow, it more than delivers by the end of the first chapter.
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes - $12.49 (50% Off)

Simogo's puzzle adventure game is equal parts thought-provoking and atmospheric. When you think of the best puzzle games in modern times, games like Lorelei and Talos should be the ones you immediately think about. It is that good, and remains a game I think about long after finishing it back on Steam Deck a few years ago. Lorelei uses just about 10W and delivers a solid 90fps experience. Its striking aesthetic also benefits from the OLED screen if you have one.
Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid - $13.99 (65% Off)

Spike Chunsoft's Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid is a nostalgic sightseeing adventure that is unlike any other life simulation out there. Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid was the rare game that made me feel nostalgic for things I hadn't experienced, and it is also a really well-written adventure with amazing music and tons of charm. Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid is also best played on Steam Deck since the Switch port isn't the best. Note that it is capped at 60fps so you will need to adjust the Steam Deck OLED screen refresh rate to 60 when playing Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid. Barring that, it uses up around 16W of power.
1000xRESIST - $11.99 (40% Off)

We already featured 1000xRESIST in our general recommendations (https://steamdeckhq.com/news/steam-summer-sale-2026-recommendations-steam-deck-part-1/), but it truly is one of the best narrative experiences you will ever have. The sci-fi adventure from Sunset Visitor has a super stylish presentation, amazing music, and basically floored me when I first played it. 1000xResist is quite heavy to run compared to many other games, given how much it pushes visuals, but you will get a solid 40 or 45fps target experience on Steam Deck with around 19W of power draw with fantastic visuals.
Skate Story - $13.99 (30% Off)

Sam Eng and Devolver Digital's Skate Story is unlike any other skateboarding game, but it also happens to be unlike any other narrative game I've played. It also has an incredible soundtrack. When it comes to Steam Deck performance, you can get a solid 60fps experience early on, but it drops later, so it is best to play it with the highest possible visuals and aim for 45fps at 90hz here, as we covered in our review (LINK). Expect a power consumption of 22W here uncapped or about 16W when playing at 45fps.
Fantasy Maiden Wars - $27.99 (20% Off)

Fantasy Maiden Wars is a tactical RPG featuring Touhou characters. It has a gigantic main story and feels perfect on the Steam Deck. The PC port itself is capped to 30fps in some areas and 45fps during stages, so the 90hz OLED Steam Deck screen is a great fit for Fantasy Maiden Wars. It is worth playing even if you have no idea about Touhou because it is a superb tactical RPG on its own. It uses about 9W of power and is Steam Deck Verified. It is also worth listening to the music if you don't plan on playing the game.
Stray Children - $23.99 (20% Off)

Onion Games' Stray Children is a unique 90s-style adventure that is one of the rare games to actually understand why people enjoyed these sorts of games in the 90s. It is well-written, has fantastic music, and basically is full of beauty and charm. It is unlike anything else you will play, and an essential for Steam Deck owners looking to play something unique. Stray Children is a light game that runs at 60fps without issue using just around 8W of power.
Angeline Era - $19.99 (20% Off)

This classic Ys-inspired 3D action-adventure game is an absolute essential if you enjoy exploration, secrets, and the sense of wonder. Angeline Era is Steam Deck Verified, and the only thing you need to remember is to cap your screen to 60hz if you play on a Steam Deck OLED and want to save battery. It can deliver an 80+ fps experience easily, but also plays fine at 60fps. 14-16W at 90fps full brightness. 12W ish at 60fps
And that's all for this list! Make sure to read our general recommendations, our budget under $15 article, and more coming very soon. Have a game you think more folks should play? Let us know your favorite hidden gems from the Steam Summer Sale in the comments below.
