When it comes to co-op experiences, there is no experience like the ones from Hazelight Studios. A Way Out and It Takes Two are two of the best co-op games out there, and for good reason. They are engaging, exciting, and impactful, while making sure players work together to overcome their obstacles and achieve their goals. Split Fiction looks to be their biggest game yet, and I can't wait. And now, I am even more excited since the game is officially Steam Deck Verified.

Usually, the green checkmark is not an indicator of a game being a "great experience" on the Steam Deck, but I have high hopes for Split Fiction. Their minimum system requirements are well within the Steam Deck's range, and they are measuring for 1920x1080 resolution, which is higher than the Steam Deck's native 1280x800 screen. This means we will most likely see solid performance with 30 FPS and above. It could be a stretch for 40, but I could see a mix of Low and Medium quality settings while still sticking to 30 FPS.

In a Steam Community Post announcing this change, Hazelight also mentioned that the game will not require the EA app as well, meaning it won't have to go through a third party to launch it if playing from Steam. You will need to make a free EA account if you want to play with someone outside of Steam, including crossplay with PlayStation or Xbox, but you can play with Steam friends without needing to make an account.
It's hard to contain my excitement about the game, and I appreciate the work Hazelight is putting in to make sure it will be playable on the Deck. Split Fiction looks incredible, and I love the sci-fi and fantasy elements that you will swap between. It looks like a blast, and I can't wait to grab my wife and play this together.
Split Fiction can be pre-purchased on Steam for $49.99 ahead of its March 6th release date.
