X4: Foundations Regains its Steam Deck Verified Status After Patch

If you were a little sad that the in-depth space sim X4: Foundations had lost its Steam Deck Verified badge when the 7.00 update started rolling around, you'll be glad to hear that the developers were on the case and Patch 7.10 has regained them the Steam Deck Verified badge.

On top of that, Patch 7.10 Hotfix #1 just dropped, which fixes some performance issues that the game had on the Steam Deck.

If you missed the 7.00 Patch news, it actually added a bunch of extra features and changed the game quite a bit, so it's worth checking out this overview trailer:

I already had X4: Foundations installed on my Steam Deck and ROG Ally, so I gave them a run on each to see how things had changed.

Sadly, the ROG Ally has barely playable performance in X4: Foundations even in its 30W Turbo mode, and I'm not quite sure why.

The Steam Deck performs better, however, and if you lock it to 30 FPS and remove the TDP Limit, it's quite a nice experience. There are default settings in place, and they do make liberal use of upscaling techniques like FSR 1.0, so the image does appear quite soft, but it's definitely playable.
