This news came a bit out of the blue for me, but Focus Entertainment Publishing, Games Workshop, and Saber Interactive released a joint statement today confirming that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 is in development. While that may not be a shocking statement given how well the Space Marine games have been received, it is quite interesting that they chose to announce the game just 6 months after the previous game's release.

The team, which is the same that worked on Space Marine 2, is promising to deliver more of the same, retaining the gritty and brutal action that the Warhammer universe is famed for, while still delivering content and updates for Space Marine 2.

The main aim of Space Marine 3 appears to be to increase the scope, with large-scale battles being mentioned to create spectacular scenes.

More information on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 will be revealed at a later date.
