The Steam Controller From Hori Is Coming To The USA

Recently, controller and accessory maker Hori announced they were making a new controller to work specifically with Steam. It was released not too long ago, but it was a Japan exclusive. I was able to grab it while I was at the Tokyo Game Show, which was awesome, but unfortunately, those living in the United States were not able to take advantage of the controller. However, it looks like this was only temporary, as the Horipad Controller for Steam is making its way to the USA.

While we didn't see any formal announcement, we did see a store page that was up for the USA version of the Hori website that mentions the Steam Controller (officially licensed). It notes that it will cost $59.99 and will be releasing on December 16th of this year, just in time for the holidays. It will be available on Amazon, and is compatible with both Steam and the Steam Deck (which we can confirm).

The controller has some great features to it as well. It has a dedicated Steam and Quick Access button, capacitive touch thumbsticks, gyro, four programmable buttons (with two being in the back), full Steam Input support, and a special XInput mode to better work with Windows computers or outside of Steam. It's definitely a solid controller overall, and I personally really like how it feels to use. I do miss the touchpads of the Steam Deck when using it, but for an external controller, it is definitely solid.

There is no rumble, which I know is a must-have for some people, but otherwise, I was really happy with the offering. I also appreciate how well it works with Steam Input and the dedicated Quick Access Menu button.
