Steam's November 2025 Hardware Survey Shows Linux Hitting A New All-Time High

It has been intriguing to see how the majority of people are playing games on Steam. Each month, Valve produces a new hardware survey, giving us a clear example of which operating systems are most used, which GPUs are the most popular, and so much more. Now that November has ended, we can see the results of this new survey, and we can see that Linux has hit a new all-time high!

As we can see in the survey, Linux has gone up to 3.20%, which may seem small, but this is a new all-time high! Last month, Linux had just passed the 3% mark, and now it has gone up an extra 0.15%! Interestingly, by looking directly at Linux, we can see that SteamOS has actually gone down almost 1 percentage point, while Bazzite has gone up by 1. We also see increases for Debian, CachyOS, and Mint. However, the Steam Deck's GPU is still number 1 right now on Linux.

Interestingly, the top GPU overall has changed, going from the NVIDIA RTX 3060 to the RTX 4060 laptop edition. However, the rest of the survey remains largely the same. We still have 1080p as the most popular resolution, 16GB RAM as the most popular RAM, and 6-core CPUs as the most popular CPUs. Still, it's great to see Linux start to rise up, and I hope that means more developers/publishers will see supporting Linux as a net positive.
