Sea of Stars was a big hit when it launched last August, and has been drawing in players ever since! In fact, it just hit the 5 million player milestone!

To celebrate this major milestone in the game's history, the developers have announced that they're adding a new "Singleplayer+" game mode to the game. This essentially boils down to 3 player couch co-op, allowing players to fight together using timed combat mechanics. It's all very reminiscent of Secret of Mana on the SNES for me, and that's great!

Here's a very short teaser the developers just released of the new game mode:

I'm sure plenty of Sea of Stars fans will be excited to jump back into the game with their friends when this new game mode launches. We don't have a release date for it yet, sadly, but it's sure to be a good time when it does land.

While the Steam Deck itself might not be the best device for couch co-op experiences (unless it's docked), we could see this being a use case for Steam's Remote Play Together feature, allowing a host to stream the game to other Steam Decks and play the game together. Sea of Stars doesn't have Remote Play Together enabled right now (why would it?), but hopefully, it's something that will be enabled when this update hits.

In case you were wondering, Sea of Stars plays great on the Steam Deck, we tried it back when it came out, and found that it's an ideal game to play on the go!

Sea of Stars is available on Steam for $34.99, it holds "Very Positive" user reviews, and is rated Verified for Steam Deck.
