It's not long now until the awards ceremony for the 25th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA), which will take place on March 19th, 2025.

We already know where 2 of the awards will be heading though!

Sam Lake - Lifetime Achievement Award

Sam Lake, who worked on Max Payne, Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and most recently was co-director and lead writer for Alan Wake 2, which itself received many awards, will be receiving the Lifetime Achievement award. He's certainly done a lot for gaming over the years and is quickly becoming a recognizable face in the industry.

Lucas Pope - Pioneer Award

Lucas Pope, perhaps best known for his games Papers, Please and Return of the Obra Dinn will be receiving the Pioneer Award. His games certainly always bring something new to the table, often in a unique way that hasn't really been explored before, which fits the definition of a "Pioneer" beautifully.

You'll be able to watch the GDCA awards ceremony over on the GDC Twitch Channel during the 2025 Game Developers Conference on March 19th, being held immediately after the Independent Game Festival (IGF) awards.
