Proton Hotfix Released to Fix Apex Legends Anti-Cheat Issue on Steam Deck After Upheaval Update

It feels like every major update to Apex Legends has been breaking anti-cheat support for the Steam Deck, and the recent one is no different. The recent "Upheaval" update broke Steam Deck compatibility due to the anti-cheat issue, and luckily, it didn't take long before Valve stepped in to fix it!

On X, Pierre-Loup Griffais, Valve engineer who works on the Deck, posted that a Proton Hotfix was deployed to specifically fix this issue, and I have to applaud Valve for getting it working so quickly after an issue was raised on GitHub. I wouldn't expect many companies to operate this fast on products that they didn't create, but Valve has definitely raised the bar.

This patch should be applied to the Proton Hotfix layer, which is the default selected for Apex Legends now. So, all you have to do is download the Proton Hotfix update, which should automatically appear in your "Download" tab. It should automatically start updating if you start Apex Legends when connected to WiFi, so you should be all set!
