One of the things I love about PC gaming is that it generally doesn’t participate in console wars. While there are some discussions about the best storefronts to use, nothing is usually locked behind one. And when it is, there tends to be a lot of uproar about it (Epic exclusives). As for consoles, both PlayStation and Xbox have released their games for PC as well, and we have had the pleasure of being able to play and enjoy them from our computers. However, it seems as though PlayStation is reconsidering its strategies for PC releases.

According to Jason Schreier, PlayStation Studio Business CEO Hermen Hulst announced that single-player narrative experiences will now be PlayStation exclusive. This confirms an earlier story that Jason broke on Bloomberg, where he reported that PlayStation was moving away from PC releases. This means we will most likely not be getting games like Ghost of Yotei, Saros, and the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine on PC.
While this is disappointing, especially as someone who games on PC primarily, I can understand why. Sales of PlayStation games on PC are most likely not up to what PlayStation was hoping for, and they want to reinvest to convince people to purchase their console, especially as the PS6 could be around the corner. I do believe that a better PC release strategy could fix this, as we saw significantly stronger sales of Helldivers 2 when it released the same day on PlayStation, but I can also understand why they want to keep exclusivity, or timed exclusivity, to their console.
Luckily, this only applies to single-player narrative experiences. Multiplayer games, like the upcoming MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, will still be coming to PC. It’s also possible that future multiplayer games will also come to PC, but time will tell for sure just which games will be coming for you.
I will be missing playing these games on PC with the extra features, higher framerates, and flexibility to play on the go, so I do hope this is something they will reevaluate down the road. Even if they decide to only release it on PC within their own launcher or storefront, I do hope we see it return, and they make sure the launcher will support Linux. It's awesome to play games like Ghost of Tsushima and Marvel's Spider-Man on the Deck, and I would have loved to play Yotei and Saros this way too.

This completely contradicts former reports. "+6 Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida perfectly captured the industry sentiment when he admitted porting exclusive Sony games to PC is "almost like printing money". Because the heavy development costs are already paid by the time a game hits consoles, bringing it to PC years later generates massive revenue for the company."
So perhaps they're just going to make them exclusive slightly longer. Oh no, guess I'll have to play my backlog of 750 steam games until they release them on PC.
While I'm usually playing Singleplayer games I can't remember about purchasing 1 game of them that was exclusive first and later ported to the PC. I'm not counting death stranding here.
I really loved The Last of US on the PS3 a console I bought from a friend just to play this game and it was amazing I still have to play the second game and im sure it's great but there is so much to play on PC from so many genres and Studios big and small I wouldn't miss Sonys games.
I understand that this could be frustrating for others especially when it's an ongoing franchise and they now maybe have to purchase a console to play the next game and im honestly feel sorry for them. But for me it's really not a big deal. Even if I would be more interested I do not have to play everything. Even die Games like GTA I would never purchase a console just to play that game
I'm sorry, but why do we allow sloppy reporting to happen? Jason Schrier doesn't even confirm that the CEO said this, he said that someone else heard the CEO said this.
We never said he heard it directly, only that he reported it. He’s a trustworthy source, which is why we still reported on it.
