Norland To Get Steam Deck UI Improvements Within The Next 3 Months

Yesterday, developer Long Jaunt posted their quarterly roadmap for Norland, giving us a look at what will be focused on over the next three months. This includes some great new content for the base-building simulator like maps, buildings, and traits while also adding in season changes and how it can affect warfare. With those, we also have some other improvements to the UI/UX of the game, and it's in that category that we see some Steam Deck support planned.

Looking through the announcement, which was posted to Steam, there aren't many details about what exactly the support will be and what it entails, but we can make some assumptions based on it being in the UI category. This could mean we could have UI elements that are able to increase in size and text size increases to be more legible on the smaller screen. This could also mean better ways to interact with the game like actual controller support.

There is no information about when this will be implemented, but it should be within the next 3 months. There is also a new beta branch that you can switch to if you want to test out these features early, and it currently includes trade rebalances, joint army attacks, and initiating a rebellion. This is most likely where the new changes will appear first before they are pushed out to everyone, but it could just be restricted to major features while the devs get feedback.

Regardless, Norland is a fantastic game, and while it does have some issues on Steam Deck currently, and a lack of controller support does make it hard to control, it's still great to play. It can run decently at 40 FPS, and is well worth your time even with the issues.
