Instruments of Destruction Update Brings in New FPS Options to Improve Steam Deck Playability

There's something so addicting about physics-based destruction in video games. Seeing buildings break apart and fall on each other, bridges collapse, and vehicles torn apart is so satisfying. Watch how it all falls apart. Instruments of Destruction is all about this, and with the newest update since its full release on May 10th, playing on the Steam Deck should feel a bit smoother, too.

In version 1.0.1, we have a plethora of changes and fixes that improve the overall game experience, but there are some improvements that should specifically help playability on the Steam Deck. There are some new minimum FPS options that can help keep battery life and stability in check, and the game will no longer sync PC settings with Steam Cloud. This is quite prominent if you are playing the game on a more powerful PC and Deck. Now, if your PC has high-quality settings, it will no longer bring those settings to your Deck; it will only bring game progress.

The update also adds an option to Invert Y on gamepads, improved missions, a mouse sensitivity option, fixing some achievements, increasing the range to swap to a vehicle in front of your own, camera shaking now affecting UI and earthquake shakes, and there's a new option for Shadow Strength. Turning this down could theoretically help out with performance as well, but seeing as how the game relies on shadows in its scenes, you may not want to.

Instruments of Destruction is available on Steam right now. It is currently on a 15% off sale at $16.99 until May 17th. It is rated Steam Deck Playable due to small in-game text, needing to manually set display resolution, and showing incorrect controller icons.
