Hunt: Showdown was released back in 2019, and if you didn't know, was set in the year 1895. Now, Crytek has revealed the next chapter of Hunt, under the guise of Hunt: Showdown 1896, this time players can join a whole new experience as they head west of the Bayou backwaters to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, all starting on August 15th, 2024.
What can you expect from this upgrade? Check out the trailer below for a sneak peek:
The first map to be revealed is Mammon’s Gulch, this map shows off the new biomes you'll be exploring, and also introduces extra verticality that you might not be used to, but who knows what you'll find beneath the forest canopy and in the mines below?
Hunt: Showdown 1896 is also taking advantage of CRYENGINE 5.11, which the team says allows them to not only improve the visuals, audio design, and performance but also the gameplay to make Hunt: Showdown 1896 as immersive as they can.
It's not all brand new content though, the developers have promised that after the launch of Hunt: Showdown 1896, they will revisit the Bayou maps, overhauling them to bring them up to the same level of quality and fidelity as the new maps.

Hunt: Showdown is currently available on Steam for $29.99. It is rated as Playable on Steam, due to sometimes requiring the on-screen keyboard to be invoked, and some text may be difficult to read. Hunt: Showdown 1896 is a free upgrade for existing owners of the game, it launches on August 15th.
