Frontier Hunter Won't Be Getting Steam Deck UI Optimizations For Now

I absolutely adore playing Metroidvanias on the Steam Deck. They are perfect for controller support, fit relatively well on the smaller screen, and are perfect for pick-up and put-down moments. As a new father, it has been exceptionally helpful to be able to sleep on the device and come back with ease. Frontier Hunter: Erza's Wheel of Fortune is one of those awesome games as well, and it runs quite well on the Steam Deck, but there are some issues with the UI and text. While the developers initially wanted to optimize this, it seems it isn't happening yet.

In their Steam Community Post, to announce that the full version of the game is available after 18 months of early access, the team addressed Steam Deck support in their small FAQ section. They mention that adjusting the entire interface and text would be too much work since there's so much being displayed, and because of that, they have given up optimization. They ended the answer by saying that this is the issue for now, so there may be some hope in the future, but currently, it doesn't seem likely:

5. How is the compatibility with Steam Deck?
The game can be played on Steam Deck, but due to the large amount of text on some interfaces, enlarging the text will cause it to overflow the frame. Adjusting the entire interface would be too much work, so we had to give up optimization in this aspect. Therefore, if you play on Steam Deck, some text may be too small to read clearly. This is the issue for now.

Otherwise, things are looking up for the game! There will be a major update that will arrive in two months that involves the development of a plot foreshadowing, and we have a 10% off deal to celebrate the release! It lasts until August 9th as well, so there's some time to get a little bit off to celebrate the release. The rest of the FAQ mentions the game will take about 30-35 hours to complete, goes over how difficult the game is, and if you can use modifiers or cheat tools (not recommended). Either way, this is still fun to play on Deck. It's just a shame there won't be any UI changes.
