When Final Fantasy Resonance was announced, I was extremely excited. I still look back on and fondly remember Brave Exvius, which I played to death until it closed down. Now, the beloved characters of the mobile game are returning in the first turn-based Final Fantasy game in a long time, all in the gorgeous HD-2D format. And it sounds like we’ll be able to enjoy this one on the Steam Deck.

Final Fantasy Resonance

Just yesterday, Final Fantasy Resonance got the Steam Deck Verified badge. This test from Valve notes that the default controller and graphical options should perform well, the controller icons are correct, and the in-game text is legible. It also notes that the first-time setup will need an Internet connection, and that we may have to manually switch over to an external controller in the quick access menu.

And since we can now see it, we can also confirm that the game is rated Steam Machine Verified, as well as being compatible with SteamOS.

Based on the system requirements and how the other HD-2D games have performed on the Deck, I’m not surprised. These games have always been able to perform well, and even when the setting changes to real-time open-world gameplay, they can still hold it down. I expect performance between Octopath Traveler and Elliot, so maybe 40 FPS with medium settings. Still, with how beautiful and flashy the effects can get, I bet it’ll look good on low.
