Japanese-Inspired RPG 'Elements Destiny' Gets Trailer, is Launching in Q1 2025 After 7 Years of Development

Elements Destiny is a Retro-JIGRPG with a turn-based combat system and a cast of cheerful characters. If you didn't know what a JIGRPG is, don't worry, I didn't until I read through the press release. It stands for Japanese-Inspired German Role Playing Game, apparently. Regardless of the somewhat confusing acronyms at play here, this is a game that's been in development for a long time, and the first-ever gameplay trailer just dropped. The game will also be playable at this year's Gamescom at the Indie Arena Booth in Hall 10.2.

So let's check out that gameplay trailer, shall we?

In Elements Destiny you reside in the world of Solitas, which is being threatened by a shadow crusade. Only the descendants of the Clans of the Elements can avert disaster, thus enters our protagonist, Erika. Guide her on her journey, make new friends who will fight alongside her, and defeat a variety of foes, some from unexpected places.

The world is counting on you and your party, each of whom has special abilities to unleash upon the countless monsters you'll encounter. Can you piece together the story and figure out just what Erika's role is in all of this?

Elements Destiny is a big one, with the game estimated to be 80-100 hours long, and the promise of plenty of German voice acting by famous Anime VAs. And a soundtrack with over 100 tracks.

Elements Destiny is due to release on Steam in Q1 2025. There are no system requirements released for the game yet, but it should be easy to run, and it does have partial controller support, so there's no reason why this one wouldn't run on the Steam Deck. There is also a demo available now if you want to check it out.
