It really is always a bit sad to see games getting delisted from digital storefronts. In an age where preservation is at stake, it is unfortunate seeing software leaving forever. Recently, Forza Horizon 4 got delisted, and we have some classic SEGA titles leaving soon too, but now we are adding one more to the list, Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance, and it runs quite well on the Steam Deck.

Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance was originally released in 2021 and is a four-player co-op action game. It does have its own slew of issues, including buggy combat mechanics, but there is some charm to it as well. It has mixed reviews on Steam, and as of February 24th of next year (2025), it will no longer be available for purchase, and servers will be shut down. This means no more multiplayer, since it is all online and not peer-to-peer, but you can still play in single-player.

I decided to go ahead and try the game out on the Steam Deck to see if it is a worthwhile purchase for portable play, and it does run quite well so far while looking nice on the screen. I haven't played much, but in my time, I was easily hitting 60 FPS and above at the default Medium quality settings with 22W - 23W battery drain. I could definitely see the potential for optimizing the settings further or bringing down the framerate to save on battery life.

Now, is it worth buying? That's a good question. There will be no multiplayer, which also means some achievements will not be possible to get, but if you want to have a game that is only playable alone and can't be purchased anymore, you may want it. I do see some charm in it, even if it is flawed overall. Luckily, you have 2 months to decide before it gets taken down forever.

Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance can be purchased on Steam for $29.99. There is no discount for it currently, but there may be one closer to when it will be delisted.
