Death of a Wish is Getting a Linux Port With the New Randomizer Update

Death of a Wish is one of the more unique-looking games I have played, and it's wonderful. The intense action mixed with the crude drawing visuals is incredible and enjoyable to play. The game already runs exceptionally well on the Steam Deck, but even still, it makes me even happier to know that a Linux port of the game is coming, along with an awesome update!

Coming on May 9th, we are going to have a new update that adds a native Linux build to the game! This is awesome, and seeing this happen makes the game infinitely more accessible on Linux systems. Luckily, the game already runs exceptionally well on the Steam Deck, with under 7W battery drain and 60 FPS, but it is welcome regardless!

The new builds of the game will be available with the Randomizer game mode, which gives us a reason to go right back into the game even after we beat it. It adds an extra challenge by randomizing enemy and item placements, equipment, and forces you to think differently to manage encounters that you would never have had before. There is also going to be a "True Randomizer" mode that allows you to encounter regular and mini-bosses as regular enemies in the world.
