Asobi: Remote Play Lets You Stream PlayStation Games to Your Steam Deck

It's no secret that PlayStation's PC support is lacking, both in terms of its porting efforts and in how it handles the likes of cloud streaming on the PC platform, such as there being no PS5 games available to stream via its official PC app.

Well, a new app has just appeared on Steam which aims to change all that. Asobi: Remote Play will allow both Linux and Windows users to stream locally from their PS4 or PS5 to their device, as well as use their PS+ Premium subscription to stream selected games from the cloud, including purchased PS5 titles.

The base app itself will be free to use, offering streams of up to 1080p/30 FPS whether locally or via the cloud. A separate in-app purchase will be available for the "Premium" version of the app, which allows up to 1080p/60 FPS streaming, as well as controller support, haptic feedback, more configuration options such as manual bitrate limits, and some other niceties.

Right now, the playtest is only open for Linux devices, and specifically, the Steam Deck appears to be the focus, but a Windows version has been confirmed for the future.

It is worth stating that this app is not endorsed by PlayStation, so there's no guarantee that the app will continue to work in the future if they decide to put a stop to 3rd party apps using their infrastructure.
