Thanks to Nacon for sending us a key for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown.

We were fortunate enough to get our hands on a review copy of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown ahead of its launch, which will be the 12th of September for most people, and the 5th of September for those who bought the Gold Edition.

Unfortunately, it didn't take long for us to find out that the game refused to boot on our Steam Decks. We suspected it was likely an anti-cheat issue, given that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is an online-only title, it would make sense that it would have some form of anti-cheat software running in the background. After contacting Kylotonn about the issue, we got confirmation that the game does indeed have anti-cheat and that anti-cheat does not yet support Linux:

Indeed, the company that develops the anti cheat tool is currently working on Linux compatibility. ... We're working on it, but we can't guarantee that it will ever be available.

So there you have it, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown won't run on your Steam Deck at launch, and while there is some hope here with the team saying that they're looking into it, we wouldn't recommend you go out and buy the game in the hopes that it will be supported in the future, because it may never be.

Given the game's system requirements on its Steam store page, it's likely that the game would struggle to run on the Steam Deck anyway. The developers state that you need at least a GTX 1660 to play the game at Low settings, 540p upscaled to 1080p at 30 FPS. A GTX 1660 usually outperforms a Steam Deck by some margin.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown should still be playable on other devices like the ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion Go, due to their additional power and usage of the Windows operating system.

Are you disappointed that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown won't be compatible with the Steam Deck, at least at launch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
