A new Steam Deck Beta Client update was released earlier today, and it looks like Valve is continuing its work on new gyro modes. In this update, we now have the "Laser Pointer" gyro conversion mode, which moves the cursor as if there is a laser pointer coming out of the front of your Steam Deck screen. This will be most helpful for interacting with the UI. We also have a minor fix for gyro angle offsets and some UI cleaning:

Steam Deck Beta Client 10/10/23 Update Changelog:

Steam Input

  • New "Laser Pointer" Gyro 3DOF to 2D Conversion mode: The Cursor is driven up, down, left and right due to an imaginary ray pointing out of the front of the controller/through the Steam Deck Screen. This mode is most appropriate for mouse cursor movement/UI interaction.
  • Fix for SteamDeck Gyro offset angle defaults being set incorrectly.
  • Minor UI tidying.
