The fall is here and what better way to celebrate the season than with some new games! Steam started its Autumn sale today with great deals across the entire store. As a Deck owners, we want to be sure we are getting games that not only run well on the Steam Deck, but play well with a controller and are truly great experiences! So here is our list of recommendations for games to check out this week! We will be updating this periodically as well while we test out more too.
Best on Deck Games (Rating Varies)
This is our on-going list of games that need absolutely no changes to their settings and run perfectly on the Steam Deck. The games vary in the sales going on, but all of them are amazing! Of those games, I highly recommend checking out Tinykin (20% off) and Rivals of Aether (50% off). You can view these games on our list both from the YouTube video and our Steam Curator page.
Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal (Verified)
If you are a JRPG fan, or just a fan of good video games, this series is a must have! Both Persona games play incredibly well on the Steam Deck, features hours and hours of content, and have such a stylish and wonderful aesthetic with addicting gameplay. It is a personal favorite of mine and I can't get enough of it. Even with other games I need to review, this game has me coming back for more. We have also reviewed Persona 5 Royal!
On Fanatical, you can get Persona 5 Royal ($37 instead of $42) and Persona 4 Golden ($11.19 instead of $13) for a little bit cheaper (yes they are Steam Keys).
Spark the Electric Jester Series (2 = Playable, 1/3 = Unknown)
Did you enjoy the Sonic Adventure series? Wish it was more refined or had expanded DMC-like combat? Well this series is for you! Spark the Electric Jester follows Spark on a journey for revenge against robots that took his job. While the first game is a 2D pixel platformer, the 2nd and 3rd switch to 3D format and it feels fantastic. It is definitely worth checking this series out. Just a heads up, the series does have a story that goes in all of them, but the 3rd game has all the levels of the 2nd (if you don't care for the story).
A Plague Tale Innocence and Requiem (Verified/Playable)
This is an incredible action-adventure game that tells an incredibly deep tale of the struggle for survival. While Innocence, the first in the series, was always running well on the Steam Deck, Requiem, the sequel, released struggling a bit. After a recent update though, this has most definitely changed for the better! These story-heavy games are well worth a look and definitely worth your time. We have also updated our review of Requiem.
Cyberpunk 2077 (Playable)
While it got off to a bit of a rocky start, this gigantic open-world RPG has come around and become a monster to have on the Steam Deck. And with a recent update adding in FSR 2.1, the game is even more playable with better visual quality than before! With it on sale, I don't see a reason not to check it out and see the sights of Night City.
PlayStation Titles on PC (Verified)
Every single one of the games they put onto Steam is verified for the Steam Deck and runs exceptionally well. Horizon Zero Dawn, Day's Gone, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, and God of War are all currently on sale and worth checking out. Kudos to you PlayStation, your PC support has been incredible. We have also reviewed all PlayStation titles that have been released on PC, minus Miles Morales.
On Fanatical, you can get these games a bit cheaper too:
Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition ($16.50 instead of $20)
Days Gone ($16.50 instead of $20)
God of War ($31.50 instead of $37.50)
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered ($38.99 instead of $45)
You can also get 10% off of Uncharted, Sackboy, and Miles Morales on Fanatical as well!
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade (Verified)
A ground-up remake of the original Final Fantasy 7, Remake Intergrade is the beginning of a fleshed out trilogy to dive deeper into the classic JRPG. As Cloud Strife, you will embark on a journey that will shape the destiny of the entire world. For those that know the original game, this one goes up until the escape from Midgar and expands on the story while adding in real-time action combat instead of turn-based. This edition also includes INTERmission, which is a new adventure staring the Wutaian ninja Yuffie. Overall, this is an incredible game to play and feels all the more amazing playing it on a portable device. You can also check out our review!
Dying Light 2: Stay Human (Playable)
Dying Light 2 is an open-world RPG set in a world that has regressed to the dark ages. In The City, one of the last human settlements, you will venture out killing zombies and utilizing your parkour skills to traverse the environment. And with FSR 2.0 implementation, Dying Light 2 is a fantastic game to play on the Steam Deck. The game is also coop so you can survive with a friend! We also have our review posted!
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and 4 (Verified)
Crash Bandicoot, the classic 3D platforming series, is here with the entire series on Steam! The N. Sane Trilogy includes the first 3 games, all remade from the original PlayStation 1 versions. The newest is the 4th which did come out recently. All 4 of these games run incredibly on the Steam Deck with little to no setting changes as well, which make these perfect for portable play! We have also reviewed Crash 4.
Crysis Remastered 1-3 (1 - Playable, 2-3 = Unknown)
While we are still writing the reviews for each of these, the Crysis Remastered trilogy works incredibly on the Steam Deck. Each game can hit 45 FPS while looking gorgeous and feels so crazy seeing this high-octane first person shooter on a portable device feeling this great. While each individual game is on sale, the trilogy bundle is an incredible deal bringing all the games together below $30. This is definitely worthwhile!
Valve Complete Pack (Various)
One of the greatest PC gaming deals to exist with incredible games in it. Though if I had to pick a few from this list, the Portal series, the Half Life series, and Left 4 Dead 2 all take center stage with each being around $1 a piece. If you don't have these games, remedy that now.
Vampire Survivors (Verified)
Duh.
Scorn (Unsupported)
I don't think I will ever be able to understand how this game is "Unsupported", Scorn runs incredibly on the Steam Deck. It is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game that is in a surreal and insane interconnected world. Solve puzzles and meet others in this unique and grotesque world that unfortunately pleases the eye with its gory distinctness. We also reviewed Scorn!
You can also get Scorn on Fanatical for $28 instead of $32.
DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT (Unsupported)
Another one I don't understand how it is rated "Unsupported". DBZ: Kakarot is an open-world RPG that will have you experiencing insane fights where you can level up and train to be the ultimate saiyan. Play through the Majin Buu arc and, if you have the DLC, experience new stories that further the game to new heights. For 75% off, Kakarot can run at around 50 FPS with some settings tweaks!
You can also save on every edition for this game on Fanatical!
Standard (13.19 instead of $15)
Deluxe ($18.69 instead of $21.25)
Ultimate ($40.84 instead of $47.49)
Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered (Verified)
A captivating JRPG that expertly mixes with Studio Ghibli's distinct style of art and animation, Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch feels like it has it all with a unique dynamic combat system that combines real-time and turn-based elements. I am a personal fan of the series and Studio Ghibli, so seeing this at 80% off is a no-brainer. And yes, it can easily hit 60 FPS on Deck!
You can get Ni no Kuni on Fanatical as well for $6.74 instead of $10.
Ship of Fools (Unsupported)
This is one I am still writing my review on, and while it needs a little bit of work, I absolutely adore the game. The art style and co-op nature feels perfect with the roguelite gameplay of just trying to survive at sea. On top of that, the game is fully playable solo as well and supports local multiplayer, so you can connect another controller and go wild on the same device!
Death Trash (Verified)
This is a fantastic game and one of my personal favorites. Death Trash is an open-world RPG filled with cosmic horrors and punks with shotguns. It features real-time combat and gameplay with multiple choice dialogue, crafting, worms, crafting, and much more. The story is heavy and the post-apocalyptic wasteland is brutal, but you have a lot of freedom to tackle the issues as you please. This is an easy Best on Deck game and currently on sale for 20% off.
Potion Permit (Verified)
Think Stardew Valley but instead of farming, you are out hunting for ingredients to make potions to heal the residents of Moonbury! This is a small and pleasant game that feels fantastic on the Steam Deck. Runs like a charm and needs no tweaking at all to have a good time! We did make some adjustments in our review to save as much battery as possible, but it will generally stay under 10W the whole time.
Hades (Verified)
This is another Duh right here. If you enjoy roguelikes, this is an essential. We also reviewed it and went over the mod to set resolution to the Deck's native 1280x800 and save a little bit of battery too!
Neon White (Verified)
Neon White is a single-player speedrunning first-person shooter where you pick up guns, shoot enemies, and then sacrifice those guns to do some wild parkour moves. You are White, an assassin that was chosen to compete with other demon slayers for a shot to be redeemed. This is a game that seems like it wouldn't work on a gamepad, but it really does, and it is awesome!
You can get Neon White on Fanatical for $15.74 instead of $20 on Steam.
ANNO: Mutationem (Verified)
This one is an action-adventure game sprinkled with RPG elements in a gorgeous pixelated cyberpunk world. The artstyle is awesome, blending in 2D and 3D styles to create a beautiful world that is filled with a dark story. With some awesome combat, crafting, upgrading skills, and more, this RPG has a lot to offer and it is a damn good time on the Steam Deck.
And that is our list for right now! We will be updating this throughout the sale and have a full list of everything we recommend 2 days before the sale ends (the 27th). Until then, take a look at our Steam Curator page to see other games we have reviewed and what we think!
