Skullgirls has been one of the few 2D fighters that I remember since its release back in 2013, but that doesn't mean the content has slowed down one bit! 4 days ago, the last character in the Season 1 pass, Marie, was released in Alpha form. This means that all of her moves have been implemented, her voice acting is finished, and sound effects are included. There is some fine-tuning and balancing during this period, but it is possible to try her out in the beta branch of the game. And on the 19th, Marie's Alpha came to the Steam Deck.
When the Alpha was released, it was put on a beta branch that wasn't available for Linux or the Deck yet. But with the update 3 days ago, the branch is available on Linux devices and the Deck. To access her, you just have to choose the "Skullgirls Beta (Marie Alpha) option after pressing the play button on the game. From there, you will be able to choose her in the character select screen.
Skullgirls 2nd Encore is available now for $24.99 and has a full native Linux build. The Season 1 pass is $34.99, but can be bought with the base game for $53.98, which saves about $6.
