Yesterday, the first ever Like a Dragon Direct aired outside of Japan and we got a new look at the two upcoming games in the Like a Dragon franchise: The Man Who Erased His Name and Infinite Wealth. In the roughly 35 minute presentation, we got more details on what to expect from both, and after watching, I couldn't be more excited! Here are the highlights from this awesome event:

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name

First, we got new information about the upcoming spin-off, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. This entry will be focusing on what happens to Kazuma Kiryu in the background of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and why he came out of hiding after faking his own death. Under the codename "Joryu", Kiryu becomes an gent for the Daidoji faction and operates in the shadows of Japan's underworld.

Then, we got a closer look at the explosive combat. The dynamic combat will feature two different styles and tons of new tricks mix and match together. There is Yakuza style, which has aggressive moves that are focused on hand-to-hand combat, and Agent Style, which uses high-tech gadgets to deal with enemies with speed and accuracy.

You will also be able to head to a container ship to partake in more entertainment. You can test your luck in the casino, customize your look, and put your fighting skills to the test in the coliseum, where you can build a team up to take on new challenges.

We also got to take a look at the opening sequence of the game with a new theme song created by J.I.D. and Yojiro Noda. And, if you pre-order the game, which comes out on November 9th, you will get the Legendary Fighter pack.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Next, we head over to Ichiban Kasuga, the unlikely hero and next mainline entry in the franchise. We start off with a story trailer, setting the scene for an incredibly epic tale set in Hawaii. Kasuga is sent to Hawaii without a penny to his name in the hopes to find his mother, while Kiryu is there to find the same person and deal with his past. I would go into it more, but I highly recommend watching the 10 minute trailer. It is worth the time and it has me hooked.

On top of the returning characters, there are a ton of new friends and foes. RGG brought in some incredible voice talent for the characters too, including Danny Trejo for Dwight, the leader of The Barracudas (a gang in Hawaii) and Daniel Dae Kim for Masataka Ebina, a mysterious Yakuza Syndicate leader.

Then, we got a brand new gameplay trailer to give us a taste of what kind of elements we can expect in the game. Similar to other games in the series, you will be able to freely run around the world, which has a dynamic weather system, going into shops, partaking in mini-games, and exploring. As for combat, you will be able to move around and take part in RPG-like battles filled with flashy action. You will also be able to take tours and get brand new jobs to utilize in combat like the Desperado, Geodancer, and Housekeeper. There's also a summoning system called Poundmates to bring in a lineup of new and returning characters.

There will also be a ton of new and exciting mini games to help make money including food delivery, Sujimon battles, Miss Match (a dating service), karaoke, and more. The series is known for having a ton of content, craziness, and dramatic moments, and it looks like this is going to continue here.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be available on January 26th next year. There will also be 3 editions to the game, with a base version, Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition. And, if you pre-order before release, you will get a booster and special job set. You will also get a special trial version of Infinite Wealth if you purchase Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

Both games can be wishlisted on Steam and pre-ordered now on multiple storefronts.
