Today, a livestream was presented by AYANEO to show off two of their upcoming devices, the AYANEO KUN and AYANEO SLIDE. Both of which are quote unique with the KUN being an 8.4 inch Windows handheld featuring trackpads and the SLIDE housing a full keyboard underneath the screen that can slide out. It's exciting to see, especially since the KUN is going to be the first handhelddevice shipped with Windows that will utilize trackpads, one of the Steam Deck's best quality of life features.
AYANEO shared a lot of information, including when pre-launch will be for the KUN, so let's dive right in:
AYANEO KUN
Looking at the AYANEO KUN first, there are a couple interesting aspects shown off that got me quite excited. The device was designed for semi-mobile scenarios and embodies the innovative spirit that we saw with the NEXT 2. It will utilize the AMD 7840u, the same APU that is being used in the AIR 1S and has similar power to the ROG Ally's Z1 Extreme chip. This is paired with the new KUNPeng heat dissipation system that does away with heat buildup. It utilizes 3 larger Copper tube structures to significantly improve heat exchange efficiency.
With the screen, the 8.4 inch is a 2.5k screen that finds a balance between screen size, weight, and ergonomics. The screen is fully tuned to bring in excellent color and high brightness. Mixed in is a design that has been fine tuned for ergonomics with the grips optimized for a larger screen. There was also emphasis on weight distribution of the 900g it has and grip sensation, all bundled with a color scheme inspired by Chinese ink painting and traditional colors.
There are 3 different colors that the KUN will come in: White Silk, Black Feather, and Silver Wing:
Then we have the battery. The KUN is using a 75Wh battery, the largest in a Windows handheld. For comparison, the Steam Deck and ROG Ally uses a 40Wh battery, so we almost have double the battery capacity.
We move to the controller next. The KUN features the usual ABXY, hall-effect joysticks and triggers, but they are changing things up a bit with 3 key additions: The floating point 8-directional D-Pad, the 4 back buttons (2 on each side), and the 2 touchpads on the front. This will allow for greater flexibility and ease of navigating the desktop or playing point-and-click games. The touchpads will also introduce a key mapping function to enable custom shortcuts, which you can set manually.
On top of that, there will also be a USB C port at the bottom and top, as well as a USB-A port on top. It also has a kickstand in the back that can be used to prop the device up. It will have a camera in the front to support Windows Hello face recognition for increased security, as well as stereo dual speakers.
AYASpace 2.0 has also been optimized for the larger screen. With the new UI and support for touch and gamepad controls, you will have no trouble running this on the device.
The Indiegogo pre launch is live now and will feature an early bird price and gift box once crowdfunding begins, which seems to be around mid to late August. You can sign up with your email address to follow the latest updates with it.

AYANEO SLIDE
Next we have the AYANEO SLIDE, the first handheld from the company to feature a full RGB backlit keyboard underneath the screen. The 6 inch, 1080p screen will be attached to a rail that will allow you to not only slide, but adjust the screen's angle as well. Powered by the AMD 7840u, same APU as the Kun, the device will have the usual hall effect joysticks and triggers, stereo speakers, a X-axis linear motor and six-axis gyroscope, and ergonomic grip.
Unlike other sliding handhelds that have been released, this will be the first with a screen that has an adjustable angle, allowing you to relax a little bit more. I can see this being especially helpful so you don't have to arch your neck every time to use the device. It also has a lot of the essential keys there like the Windows key and function ones. It is also the first slide handheld to have RGB keyboard lighting effects that you can control.
This is an interesting device here considering it has similar power to the KUN and other devices like the ROG Ally, but a smaller form factor with a keyboard. Nonetheless, it is interesting to see more information about it and have an option for a full keyboard on a handheld!
No information has been provided regarding the SLIDE's campaign or when it will go live, but with the AIR 1S and KUN coming soon, we will have a lot on our plate to digest!
