Last November, AMD announced FSR 2.2 with the RX 7900 GPU series launch, and now, it is officially available to all! Releasing on Github, the biggest improvement this update is showcasing is reducing high-velocity ghosting. The best examples of seeing this are going to be in faster-paced experiences, like racing games, which will reduce ghosting issues when traveling at high speeds.
On top of this, there are more major changes that were implemented like modifying depth logic to improve disocclusion detection and overhauling accumulation logic to use temporal reactivity, which both reduce the fizzing artifacts seen at times. Here is a little table with these major changes and how they impact the game:
There is also a Debug API Checker that was introduced, which will be very helpful for developers while working on integrating FSR 2 into their games. There are some minor changes as well, including fixing issues brought up by the community, so this is a pretty significant upgrade!
With that in mind, AMD also updated their list of games that support FSR 1 and 2! Currently, only 3 games have FSR 2.2 in them: F1 22, Forza Horizon 5, and Need for Speed: Unbound, but we expect that number to grow. It is also nice seeing confirmation for Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Grounded to have FSR support soon! Overall, this is quite exciting and I can't wait to see how well these games will perform! All of this was announced via their community post as well.
