Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Gets Anti-Cheat Update With Steam Deck Support

I knew this day would come one of these days, I just wasn't sure when. Still, I am happy it's finally here! Warhammer: Vermintide 2 finally got a new patch that updates their anti-cheat software from the old EAC to Epic Online Services, finally making the game easily playable online on the Steam Deck.

The update mentions that there should be no noticeable difference for normal gameplay, but any issues that some operating systems may have had with EAC should be gone. The devs still mention that only Windows 10 and 11 are supported and that sanctioned mods will need to be updated to work again, but it's now much easier to play, and you can officially connect to servers and play with others.

You may still need to bypass the launcher, which you can do by switching to the "temporary_launcher_workaround" in the Betas tab in the game's preferences. This should allow you to play easily and connect without having to change any Proton versions and just boot right in. Vermintide 2 may be an older game, but it's still a ton of fun to play with friends.
