It's always comforting to know when our beloved handheld goes from a little machine with potential, specifically on a game-by-game basis, to a little machine that delivers. With The First Berserker: Khazan now being officially Verified for the Steam Deck, a mere 3 weeks before its release date, that time is now.

Developed by Neople and published by Nexon, The First Berserker: Khazan is a stunning souls-like - or hardcore action-roleplaying game, if you're to go off of the official description - set in the Neople's own Dungeon & Fighter - DNF, for short- universe. It follows the titular Khazan, a once-celebrated warrior who was wrongly branded a traitor, subsequently tortured, and "exiled to the snowy mountains with severed tendons in both arms.". Lovely.
In our hands-on with the demo back in January, we were positively surprised on the technical front by the game's stability, gorgeous stylised graphics, and solid frame rate that never dipped below 30 but could comfortably sit in the low-to-mid 40s. The sheer pleasure of playing such a title was equally impressive, with tight and enjoyable mechanics offsetting any potential frustrations with the hard-but-fair difficulty of it all. You can read more about our hands-on experience here.

The First Berserker: Khazan can be pre-purchased ahead of its March 27th release for £49.99/$59.99, and a demo is available now to try it out for yourself. A Deluxe Edition is also available for £54.98/$69.99, including 72-Hour Early Access, a Hero's Weapon and Armor Set, and a Digital Artbook. As far as deluxe edition upgrades go, the price difference is refreshingly surprising, so it's certainly one that could be worth considering.
