Star Ocean The Second Story R Gets Steam Deck Verified Ahead of Release

Square Enix's next JRPG remake is looking like it will be a fantastic one, and now it seems like it could be great to play on the go! Ahead of its release on November 2nd, Star Ocean The Second Story R has officially been rated as Verified for the Steam Deck.

While a game being Verified isn't indicative of its performance, it is still really nice seeing a game getting the green checkmark badge. Seeing how the game looks and its requirements, I wouldn't be surprised if the game is at least able to run at 30 FPS. The mix of 2D and 3D art styles they are going for, which seems very similar to the Octopath Traveler games, is not super intensive and should be able to perform well.

Star Ocean The Second Story R is a full remake of the second game in the Star Ocean series. It looks unbelievable and filled with gorgeous vistas, real-time combat, and multiple endings. It will have Denuvo, which could cause some issues with stuttering, but if we are playing on a lower framerate anyway, this won't be much of an issue!
