In Beat Slayer, you play Mia in a 1990s Dystopian Berlin. Hack'n'slay your way through hordes of robots as well as boss battles as you work to free the city from the rule of the evil villain Dietrich. As part of the Steam Next Fest starting next week, a demo of Beat Slayer is available now over on Steam!

Here's a gameplay trailer to give you a taste of the game:

Let the music guide your moves as you work your way through the shabby streets of Berlin. The more on-beat you are, the better your moves will be. Every run will feel different thanks to a wide range of weapons and upgrades that unlock as you progress through the game. Prepare to face challenging boss battles with unique melodies to fight to.

A YouGov survey in November 2023 found that 51% of respondents attach great importance to music in video games, so building a game based around music certainly isn't a bad idea, and we've seen great successes in the past with games doing similar.

If you struggle with hearing difficulties or keeping a beat, you will also be able to activate rhythm assistance features to help out!

Beat Slayer launches on Steam this April 4th, a demo is available now. We don't know specific Steam Deck compatibility yet, but the game does have full controller support with the recommendation that you use a controller to play, so hopefully the Steam Deck will be an ideal way to play this title.
