qomp2 is a Spiritual Successor to Atari's Pong, and it Launches February 20th!

It's the sequel no one knew they wanted! Pong, from way back in 1972, was re-imagined as qomp in 2021, and now we're being treated to qomp2 which will launch on February 20th, 2024. qomp2 aims to answer the question, "What would happen if the pong ball escaped the paddles?". Atari has prepared the following YouTube... short... to tell us about the Pong Ball's life story... OK... Just watch the video...

We get some glimpses into the gameplay from the YouTube short. qomp2 keeps things simple by only having 2 buttons that the player can use, one for changing direction by 45 degrees, and the other for giving the ball a "boost".

Either way, you'll be puzzling your way past obstacles, enemies, and bosses as you navigate 30 levels spread out across 4 distinct worlds. Can your problem-solving skills get you past all these challenges with just the 2 buttons at your disposal?

The original qomp slipped under my radar, and it looks like a lot of other people's radars too. Despite being highly rated on Steam, it appears to have received almost no attention. Perhaps that will change when qomp2 lands on Steam on February 20, 2024. You can wishlist the game now.

qomp2 has partial controller support and very modest system requirements, so it's likely to run fine on the Steam Deck.
