Prison Architect is the game that got me into simulation games altogether, and I still enjoy going back and playing it. Building a prison while finding ways to balance taking care of and watching over all the prisoner's needs was so much fun. So, when Prison Architect 2 was announced and that it was going to have controller support, I was extremely excited about the possibility of playing this on the Steam Deck, and it looks like Paradox is on the case!

Per a blog post made on Paradox's forums and first seen on GamingOnLinux, Paradox staff "PDX Ellinor" posted a blog on Monday with some details for the upcoming game. In it, they talk about aspects of the game, as well as a FAQ towards the bottom. Number six on this list asked if the game will have Linux support and be playable on the Steam Deck. And they answered:
Prison Architect 2 is not supported for Linux. We are currently investigating Steam Deck Verification.

While this doesn't confirm support, it means they are investigating it! They also mentioned the recommended PC specs in question number 9, which include the OS, CPU, RAM, and GPU requirements. According to these, it should be possible to play on the Steam Deck, but it will need some compromises, especially in the CPU requirement area. Either way, as long as there's nothing stopping it from launching, we have high hopes!

Prison Architect 2 can be wishlisted on Steam now ahead of its March 26th release date and can be pre-ordered for $39.99. You can also pre-order the game on Fanatical for $34.79.
