While I have played tons of games that have me going into dungeons and liberating them, I do still enjoy being the one creating the dungeons. There are a few games like this that exist today, but Dungeon Tycoon caught my eye. It has the voxel aesthetic popularized by Minecraft and reminds me of other management simulators I have played recently like Let's Build a Zoo and Planet Coaster. The game also just got a new update that improves the experience on the Steam Deck, and I couldn't be happier!

In the new 1.1 update, which released yesterday, we now have full Steam Deck compatibility. There aren't more details in the changelog, but if we are going by Valve's verified system, we should have an optimized controller configuration, default graphics that work well, legible in-game text, and showing correct controller icons.

However, I tested the game myself on the Steam Deck, and there are still some optimizations it needs for that green checkmark. The game has rudimentary controller support, but it still needs a cursor to access some of the menus. I also encountered an issue with putting in a name for anything that can result in it not working at all, which can stop you from playing the game altogether. I got around this by making a dungeon on my desktop and using cloud saves to load the game, and while it performs well once in-game, it does need this workaround or using an external keyboard and mouse. Hopefully, developer Lunheim Studios will get on it and fix this issue soon.

The rest of the 1.1 update is pretty massive as well. There is a new map, three new game modes, endless quest rewards, keybinding, a new hero class, two new supported languages, new quest tiers, the option to lower walls for more visibility, three new monster limit research nodes, new achievements, bosses can now be upgraded, randomized hero behavior, new options for zoom sensitivity, and so much more.
