Deadly Days: Roadtrip looks like a new roguelike that I can get behind. The inventory management system reminds me of Resident Evil 4's backpack management mixed with Vampire Survivors-esque gameplay. It looks awesome, and I am looking forward to its release later this year. However, to get more data and feedback, developer Pixelsplit is hosting its 4th public playtest, and it comes packed with a new update that includes Steam Deck support.

Deadly Days: Roadtrip

The update is significant for the Steam Deck thanks to a couple of changes that makes the game more playable on the Steam Deck. We have full controller support with improved performance, which make it much better to play on the Deck, and it's accompanied by a switch to DirectX 11 to help it even more. DirectX 12 is still an option, but it's unstable and not recommended just yet.

For the 4th playtest, we also have a reworked mission system with a map divided into biomes, each having their own type of mission, and new events that happen every two days. There is also a new merchant, a new dangerous encounter, two new enemy types and items, UI redesign with new transitions, more variety fo map generation, and balancing throughout.

You can check out the full changelog for the playtest via their Steam Community Post.

Deadly Days: Roadtrip can be wishlisted on Steam ahead of its 2025 release, and if you want to try the game out, head to the store page and request to join their playtest.
