Are you excited about the release of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2? Well, Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have brought us a new gameplay overview trailer that's narrated by Creative Director Oliver Hollis-Leick. For six minutes, the video dives deeper into Space Marine 2’s main story campaign, multiplayer modes, and progression mechanics. The game is launching on Steam on September 9th, with those pre-ordering the Gold or Ultra Edition being able to play up to 4 days earlier.

Check out the gameplay overview trailer below:

Space Marine 2 will continue the story of legendary Ultramarine Lieutenant Demetrian Titus and takes place a hundred years after the events of Space Marine. You'll have the opportunity to fight the Tyranid horde solo, or with up to two friends playing as Titus’ battle-brothers Chairon and Gadriel in seamless drop-in/drop-out co-op.

Space Marine 2 offers you the opportunity to play as one of six classes (Tactical, Assault, Vanguard, Bulwark, Sniper, and Heavy) in “Operations” (PvE) and “Eternal War” (PvP) modes, and you'll be able to use the game's customization system for armor and weapons to make them your own style.

In the “Operations” PvE mode, players will use Armoury Data and experience earned on the battlefield to upgrade each class with up to 25 perks that suit your playstyle. You can also use the Armoury Data to level up your weapons with each new mission to unlock more powerful variants and unique cosmetics. Cosmetic upgrades can be carried across into the game's PvP modes, however, any upgrades that affect weapon performance, for example, will be restricted to the PvE mode, to ensure a fair playing field.

We've also been promised that Space Marine 2 will add new “Operations” missions, PvP maps, enemies, and weapons to fight them with through regular free content updates for all players post-launch. Additional cosmetics and Chapter heraldry will be released as part of the Season Pass, with no microtransactions or in-game cash shop involving premium currency.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will launch on Steam on September 9th. The Standard Edition of the game costs $59.99. There are also Gold and Ultra Editions available, which cost $89.99 and $99.99 respectively, and grant you early access to play the game on September 5th if you pre-order. They also both include the Season Pass.

No word on system requirements yet, so we'll have to see how this game runs on the Steam Deck when it launches.
