Indoor Astronaut just dropped the news that Unrailed 2: Back on Track is having an open beta weekend on Steam from September 20 to 23, and I’m seriously excited to hop on board. This is the sequel to the often fun and occasionally stressful, Unrailed. If you’ve ever played it, you know the feeling of barely keeping a train on the tracks while everything around you goes wild. Actually, I think that's part of the reason why it's so entertaining!

In this beta, you'll get to experience two of the game's biomes, which, based on my assumptions, will be just as perilous and unexpected as the original game's biomes—if not more so. You can play solo or team up with three others, and honestly, this is a game that shines with friends. Playing this game might just test your teamwork skills to the limit.

One thing I’m really looking forward to is the new bosses they’re introducing. Bosses in a game like this? That’s definitely a recipe for some wild moments. In addition, we will have an early look at character and train customization, which is always amusing when you want to make your train look as haphazard as possible while still managing to stay on track! Was that a pun perhaps?

Another feature that has me intrigued is the level editor tool, the Terrain Conductor. Making up your own versions of train disasters sounds like a lot of fun, particularly if you enjoy watching your friends freak out when things go wrong. I can already picture some absolutely brutal levels coming from the community.

Anyway, the beta's free to try, so if this sounds like your kind of madness, mark your calendar for this weekend. Unrailed 2 will be available in Steam Early Access in 2024, so don't worry if you don't get a chance to play it. As for me, I'm already training to be the best and fully plan to stay on track! Ouch, I think I've gone loco!
