The RPG Tails of Iron, which follows a young Rat on his quest to become the Rat King, has received another free expansion, after already receiving a free expansion in the form of "Bloody Whiskers" back in November 2021. This expansion, entitled Bright Fir Forest, is set after the events of the main game and focuses on the Squirrel race in the game, exploring their homeland Castle Drey. Here's a trailer teasing the new storyline and content:

Here's a quick overview of what you can expect from this new free expansion to Tails of Iron:

  • A brand new storyline exploring the land of the squirrels and a warrior out for sibling revenge.
  • 13 New Quests, with 4 storyline quests and 9 side quests to complete.
  • 14 New bosses to face
  • 96 New pieces of Armor and Weapons
  • 3 New challengers at the Mole Arena for you to fight against
  • An expanded soundtrack with 4 new songs

I don't know about you, but for a free expansion, that seems like a good amount of content!

Additionally, the Crimson Knight DLC, which was originally only available with the physical edition of Tails of Iron, is now available for purchase separately on Steam. It costs $1.99 and adds 3 new skins for your Armor, Weapons, Helmet, and Shields.

Tails of Iron is available on Steam for $24.99. The Bright Fir Forest expansion is available as a free download. It currently holds a Very Positive community rating on Steam, and is Steam Deck "Verified" according to Valve's Steam Deck Compatibility rating, so should run well on your Steam Decks.
