Since I first tried Persona 5 Strikers on the Steam Deck, there has been 1 main issue plaguing it. The game could run perfectly fine and be a great game for the Deck, but unfortunately, the audio in the cutscenes never worked. I tried many different methods, but it seemed hopeless...until today!
5 days ago, a ProtonDB user named Swish posted his report on the Persona 5 Strikers page with a launch option that fixes the cutscene audio completely! It seems the problem actually stems from a gstreamer plugin protonaudioconverterbin, so disabling it brings the cutscene audio back.
To fix this, you will need to force compatibility with Proton GE, I tested this with GE 8-4 myself, and a launch option. You can follow our guide on getting Proton GE, but you will have to either copy-paste or type in the launch command. You will be able to find where to put this in the general preferences of the game at the very bottom:
GST_PLUGIN_FEATURE_RANK=protonaudioconverterbin:NONE %command%
After this, just go ahead and launch the game and you should be all set to enjoy it fully! And big thanks to Swift for figuring this out and posting about it!

This may help the game run, but I still encountered the game freezing up whenever a phone brought out during the investigation sequence, and freezing when ambushing enemies. I had to refund it because it still wasn't a fully playable experience. Ran it on Proton GE 8.3 and with the command.
Interesting. I will have to check it out myself, I don't recall any issues like that when I played.
Just tested and this also fixes audio in cutscenes for Shin Magani 3 HD!
Amazing!!!!!
SMT3 had the same issue? Well that's fantastic!
Yeah not sure if it was a new problem. Only saw one mention of it on ProtonDB but the cutscenes are super short so people not not have really noticed. Tested this fix this morning before and after and it added sound where there wasn’t any!
Amazing find!
Well I am overjoyed to hear that! It is great being able to really play and fully enjoy the games now.
Thanks, been waiting for this! haven't got past tutorial cause the entire audio was off sync and annoyed
Right?? This is so awesome to finally be able to play with no compromises!
