Nixxes Software continues to impress me almost every time they work on a game and the updates they put out push that narrative in my head. Horizon Forbidden West being playable on the Steam Deck is wonderful, and I love seeing the studio not forget that we exist and want to play the game portably! And that's why I am a huge fan of the newest update, which helps text readability on the smaller screens.

In the update, there is a new option for the Interface Text Size. This will improve the legibility of the interface and in-game text, and this applies directly to the Steam Deck. After the update, the option will automatically be set to Large by default, which I am so happy about. The team also updated XeSS to 1.3, which adds some nice improvements to the upscaling method. As an alternative to FSR, this is wonderful, and I personally like the image quality of XeSS better in most games.

Otherwise, Horizon Forbidden West's new update does add some nice optimizations overall. We have improved texture streaming that reduces memory usage, improved smoothness of the camera in Photo Mode, better visual quality of dust, the last used ammo type will be remembered when using Quick Slot hotkeys to select weapons, and there were some little UI bugfixes.
