Heroic Games Launcher pushed a quick new hotfix to deal with issues logging into Epic after some changes in their API. This turned out to be an issue with Legendary, which is used by Heroic to log in and access Epic Games:

  • [Tech] Fix Windows artifacts naming and builds
  • [FIX] Epic Games Login + Update Legendary to v0.20.28

It is great that the teams behind Legendary and Heroic were able to fix this issue quickly so people can continue using their Epic libraries easily! You can also view the chanelog in full on Heroic's Github Release.

For the reference as well, here is Legendary's changelog for their update fixing this issue on their side:

  • Uses authorization code instead of SID for login (#468, thanks @nutterthanos for the tip)
  • Note: legendary auth has been changed so that --code is now used for such authorization codes, and --token for exchange tokens
  • Fixes the EOS Overlay not being correctly deleted on Linux (#441)
  • Fall back to wine/proton prefix or bottle set in env vars for save-path resolution (#461)
  • Fixed locale fallback (#457)
  • Fixed connection errors on login not being handled (#447)
