ES-DE has been my go-to graphical frontend for emulating on the Steam Deck, and I love it. It's fantastic to be able to put all my emulated games into one application that can categorize and add box art, screenshots, descriptions, and more. A new update was also pushed for ES-DE, and it adds new emulator support, faster scraping, and more!
The biggest part of this new update is easily the faster game detail scraping. The multithreading for the network code has been improved, which can speed up scraping in some circumstances. We also support new emulators like Lime3DS as an alternative for 3DS emulation, BigPEmu as an alternative for Atari Jaguar and Jaguar CD, and the MAME 2003 Retroarch core.
There are also some minor improvements throughout the update. There are new supported file extensions for different systems. You can mark some themes as depreciated in the downloader. The Modern-es-de theme has had some changes, and SDL has been updated to 2.30.2 and more! You can check out all the changes on the full changelog on GitLab.
ES-DE can be directly downloaded from their website, or you can use it with EmuDeck or RetroDECK.
