The first community update for Dying Light 2 was pushed out and man did it have a lot of improvements. From new graphical improvements to more biters roaming around the city, it was a pretty substantial update. But, the best part of this update by far is that FSR 2.0 was added to the game.

For Steam Deck users, this is a night and day difference. With native and no upscaling, we see it very hard to hit 40 FPS (which feels phenomenal on Deck), but changing it to FSR 2.0, we see almost no huge change graphically, but we now have stable framerates and even lower battery drain and temps:

If you look really close, you can spot some minor differences, but overall quality is just as good!

I would even go so far as to say the difference between Quality vs Performance has a small difference as well, but saves a LOT of battery and keeps things at a very stable 40 FPS.

And this does hold! You can set a TDP limit and I have gotten a drain around 14W average with temps staying below 75c. For a game like Dying Light 2, this is insane. There is a balance version as well, but the reduction of temp and battery doesn't come close to what the performance version does:

FSR 2.0 balanced still looks good, but drains more battery than performance while still looking relatively similar.

Overall, this is a fantastic update and will definitely be used in our review of it! You can view the full patch notes on the Dying Light 2 website.
