The recent Realms Deep 2023 Show gave us many new trailers and announcements. One of these was the Bullet-Hell FPS game: Bears In Space, where we were treated to a brand new gameplay trailer showing what it will be like to...well...be a she-bear in space:
Ready to Unleash Your Inner Space Bear?
In what promises to be a hectic time, Bears In Space is an FPS Adventure game that puts you in control of Maxwell Atoms, a Solar Marine turned extraterrestrial castaway after some shenanigans with DNA experimentation combines her DNA with Beartana, a female bear. Now, you will fight your way back home through hordes of robot fiends using an arsenal of different weapons at your disposal.
This looks like it will be a frantic experience, relying on quick movement and even quicker gunplay. The game promises moves such as double jumping, dashing, and dodging, so it will keep you on your toes!
Borrowing some design cues from Ratchet & Clank, defeating enemies will give your weapons XP, allowing them to be upgraded to even more powerful versions of themselves, a gameplay mechanic I'm very fond of. It's not just all guns blazing, however, there's a varied amount of gameplay on show, and we're interested to see how this all fits together in the final game when it launches on Steam next year.
Given the somewhat stylized look of the game, we're hoping Bears In Space will run well on the Steam Deck. The recommended minimum hardware is a bit hard for the Deck, but it is gauging for 1080p at 60 FPS. So playing at 800p and 60 or 50 FPS could be very possible.
Bears in Space can be wishlisted on Steam now. Here's hoping we can aim fast enough with a gamepad!
