Astral Throne is one of the more intriguing roguelike RPGs I have seen. It reminds me of games like Fire Emblem and Advanced Wars in their general gameplay, but it has roguelike mechanics with its loot and leveling-up systems. It looks like a really cool game to play, and it just got a whole lot better to enjoy on the Steam Deck.

The new update focuses on Steam Deck fixes and seems to make the game a bit more playable on the go. Ther are some input problems on the Deck that were fixed, save file corruption that could happen when a game is forcefully exited is fixed, and there have been some small text and UI tweaks to make it easier to see on the Deck. The input problems were pretty massive since it could impact with inputs registering and camera movement, so it's great that this is fixed.

The rest of the update has some fixes to make the game more satisfying to play. There are Hero in Team skills have been added to the Codex, Unaligned units won't use the Arson skill in specific encounters, RNG has been fixed so saved runs are more consistent, and Ruin tile move costs have been reduced.

You can check out the changelog for the update via their Steam Community Post.

Astral Throne is available for $19.99 and is rated Playable due to small in-game text and needing to manually bring up the virtual keyboard.
