Quickly Fixing the Xbox Elite Series 2 Disconnect Issue
While I love the idea of playing Steam Deck docked in my living room, I was running into problems with using my Xbox elite wireless 2 controller. That is, until reddit user 3547 posted a dirt simple solution:
Hey! I know this is an old thread, but I’ve been having the same issue since I bought the controller, and I finally decided to try to fix it. The Elite controller would work in apps like Youtube and Netflix with NO ISSUES, but ANY GAME it seemed to do what you were saying until I restarted the controller.
I found another Reddit thread where someone suggested you disable rumble (Steam menu > Settings > Controller > Game Rumble) and it hasn’t happened again since!!
I’m really disappointed I can’t use rumble, but at least I can use my $200 controller, and play on my TV again.
While this solution removed the rumble function from my controller, I can live with it for now until either Steam or Microsoft decides to provide a fix.
We hope this helps you get the most out of your Steam Deck!
