Owlcat Games has introduced a new challenge for the bravest of captains with the release of Grim Darkness mode in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, alongside the launch of the Void Shadows DLC. By providing a single save-file playthrough, where every choice can result in either redemption or ruin—and there are no second chances—this bold new mode challenges even the most experienced players to the limit.

Players must deal with the repercussions of every decision they make while navigating the dangerous Koronus Expanse in Grim Darkness mode. Your voyage will come to an end in darkness if you don't protect your crew or voidship. Offering the purest form of risk-reward gameplay that embodies the harsh nature of the Warhammer 40K universe, it's a mode for the brave, the well-prepared, and maybe the reckless.

To celebrate the launch of this challenging mode, Owlcat Games is hosting the Grim Darkness Challenge, a competitive event that invites streamers to prove their mettle on Rogue Trader’s Daring difficulty. Starting on October 22nd, 2024, players will compete for two weeks to see who can finish the game in Grim Darkness mode or survive the furthest. The ultimate Rogue Trader will receive a special prize, and only one streamer will win. There can be only one!

Adding to the excitement, Owlcat has introduced its first-ever Twitch Drops for the game, offering viewers special in-game items for watching the Grim Darkness Challenge streams. Fans can win a special servo skull, a helmet of tactical superiority, and a mind-twitching grenade pack after just one hour of viewing. It's an exciting way to interact with the Warhammer 40K community and the event.

Starting at 0:00 GMT on October 22nd, 2024, and ending on November 4th, 2024, is the Grim Darkness Challenge.
