Playing games on the Steam Deck is always a blast, especially if you are playing on the go. While most games are fantastic like this, there are also others that need to be always online, which means playing on the road or away from WiFi is impossible. However, when a game is added to offline mode, it is a sight to behold and a joy, and that's exactly how I feel about The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest, which have both been confirmed to receive offline modes!

In an announcement from Ubisoft, we got a look at what Year 2 is going to look like for The Crew Motorfest, the newest entry in the series. While there are going to be some significant additions, including the whole island of Maui being given for free, it culminated in the announcement that both The Crew 2 and Motorfest will be getting an offline mode! This means that you will officially be able to play both of these games on an airplane or at a gas station when there's no WiFi around.

However, neither of these games can be played on the Steam Deck. The anti-cheat that is used is not compatible with Linux, which means trying to boot up into it will not work. It is possible the offline mode can circumvent this, or Ubisoft may get anti-cheat working on Linux, but I am not sure. I have emailed Ubisoft to follow up on this question.

Otherwise, this is a massive update for Motorfest. We have the new island, which you can travel to without any loading screens, and Season 5, which brings back the Made in Japan Volume 2 event. There's also some new PvE content called The Chase Squad, where you will have to hunt down your racing rivals across the islands. This will be included in the Year 2 Pass, along with 20 additional vehicles.

The Crew 2

The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorsport are both on sale right now until September 23rd to celebrate. The Crew Motorsport is $20.99, while The Crew 2 is only $1 for the standard edition! It's hard to pass up on that deal though, and I couldn't resist. Here's hoping we will be able to play on the Steam Deck!
