Update 5/4/23: We have received email confirmation from a PR rep from Behaviour Interactive that this support is intentional with their goal to allow Steam Deck users to be able to access the game. This means that future updates should not purposefully stop the game from working and we officially have Deck support!
Good news for fans of Dead by Daylight, it appears the game is now running from Steam! The game has been able to run before, but it was quickly updated and shut down by the developers, so being able to play may not last for awhile, but it is working now.
After testing with a couple matches, I can confirm the Steam version of the game is running through matches without any issues. I was able to do this forcing Proton 8.0-2 in the preferences and making sure the Proton Easy Anti-Cheat service was downloaded. You can find both of these by searching them in the store on your Steam Deck and downloading them.
Depending on the level and area, the game can run a bit hot currently, but overall, it is amazing to see that it is working. I couldn't be happier to be able to play this on the Deck. Hopefully, Behaviour Interactive will keep this as I would love to be able to play this way.
